Find in this Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro review

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is launched in India recently. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is a pretty affordable phone that wants to punch above its weight class. Feature-wise it's got a huge battery a new gaming-centric chipset and an impressive-looking quad camera setup. The phone is built from Gorilla Glass though Xiaomi has opted to make the frame from plastic, not metal probably for budget reasons. The finish is quite glossy and the glass isn't entirely flat the subtle curves add a nice aesthetic.

In the box, you will get an 18-watt charging brick, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, paperwork, a silicone case, and the phone itself. Just like most of Xiaomi phones, you won’t get a pair of earphones on this device.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro features

Redmi Note 8 Pro is available in conservative mineral gray but there are also more eye-catching forest green and pearl white options.

Speaking of internals on the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the device the Mediatek Helio G90T and that is paired with the 6/64 GB, 6/128 GB and 8/128 GB of RAM and Internal storage. You can opt for 64 or 128 gigs of storage here and if you need even more room for your multimedia and apps it is expandable through microSD. And there is NFC on this phone too.

Display features

This device comes with a larger 6.53-inch display and this is still a full HD plus resolution panel. it's IPS LCD but it feels better a little brighter the back and front both covered by Corning's Gorilla Glass 5, so that's good. There is a small tiny little notch up top for the selfie camera, the viewing angles don't suffer, and the colors are rich.

The Sensors and Camera features

As for the cameras, you get quad rear cameras. And the camera module embraces a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. With so many cameras, the handset offers quite a lot of possibilities with taking a shot. And the camera additionally fared well on our Redmi Note 8 Pro camera review. However, the macro lens was more of a gimmick here. And the selfies were also decent most of the time. The images lack sufficient details and they were barely usable most of the time. To enhance the camera performance, we also tried to download Redmi Note 8 Pro Gcam app but unfortunately, we couldn’t find it. Maybe it’s available only for the Snapdragon phones.

Talking about the Redmi Note 8 Pro front camera, you get a 20MP snapper just like the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro. The portrait mode options continue to give us a dedicated promote solution on the video front get up to 4k at 30fps but that's without stabilization. The footage is detailed and all the colors are vibrant too but it's quite jittery with quick exposure changes with 1080p 30fps footage. It's pretty stable as electronic stabilization kicks in and the exposure also manages to remain constant for selfies. A 20-megapixel f/2 camera seems to do well enough and it also offers a portrait mode. Here again, we can choose the amount of bokeh or background blood. One strange detail is that the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner sits on the camera bump itself right below the cameras. It's lightning-fast.

The battery features

The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 4,500mAh battery with supporting 18 Watt fast charging. With bigger capacity, Redmi Note 8 Pro battery is enduring. It lasted for around two days on normal use. The phone also comes with quick charge support. So using the Redmi Note 8 Pro quick charger inside the box, we were able to refill the battery completely at two hours.

The OS version and processor features

The Redmi Note 8 Pro runs on MIUI 10 supported android 9 Pie. On this device, you will get an immensely powerful MediaTek Helio G90T processor. These chips build on a 12-nanometer process. With Helio G90T processor, Redmi Note 8 Pro AnTuTu benchmark was slightly above 275k. So while comparing Redmi Note 8 Pro Vs Redmi Note 7 Pro AnTuTu benchmark score, you will get a lead of around 100K on the Note 8 Pro. With capable chipset on the board, performance is additionally sleek. Even on our Redmi Note 8 Pro gaming review, we found the device to be remarkably fluid. Talking about Redmi Note 8 Pro PUBG experience, You will be delighted with the smoothness. The phone was quite comparable with flagship devices when it comes to performance. So if you are looking for a good gaming phone on a budget, you can’t go wrong with this Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Other specifications

The Redmi Note 8 Pro 8.8 millimeters thick and weighs in at almost 200 grams, meaning it's a little bit on the heavier side of the spectrum. But what it loses on the ergonomics, hope it makes up for by lasting a really long time on a single charge. Now the audio output we had a single download sparing speaker also felt quite a loud well gaming. The headphone jack returns, and also present there are the primary microphone and USB type-c port.

The power and volume keys are located to the right the IR blaster and secondary mic are up top to the left. This device just has a hybrid tray what's interesting about this tray is the rubber grommet. It's got a water-resistant coating, but don't see any official mention of an IP rating on the Chinese website. Now the IR blaster readily remains one of the last holdouts to keep offering this feature. It's quite convenient if you want to quickly turn on a TV or air conditioner but can't find the remote.

Conveniently there's also an FM radio for those of you who might still need it really it seems to have almost every feature included.

Conclusion

Honestly, we are expecting quite a bit from it but of course, that remains to be seen.
