Most interesting features of Android 10 mobile OS

What was earlier known as Android Q is now called Android 10.

Yes, Google has abandoned desert names for its new versions of Android and Google has rolled out the latest version of Android which is Android 10 for a bunch of devices mostly from the Google Pixel smartphones.

Google's major Android software update Android 10 began rolling out September 3rd to Pixel phones and will expand to other Android devices in the coming weeks and months.

Now we've installed Android 10 on the Google Pixel 3 XL and a couple of other phones. And we have checked out what is all about.

So, here are the best features that we spotted in Android 10.

Let's check this out -

Now, every year we've had one Easter Egg with Android. That is when you go to settings and tap the version of Android over there a few times, then it'll show the logo of that version of Android now for Android 10.

This Easter egg is a new puzzle game now. First, you just tap the Android name over there, and you'll see Android 10. After that, just tap and hold one, it'll start rotating and align it with the zero to make it look like Android Q. And this will allow you to access this puzzle game now. This puzzle game is called a nomogram. For now, we don't know how to play this game. We haven't been able to figure it out yet, but if you do then let us know in the comments section.

Android 10 also brings a fully gestural navigation mode that removes the navigation bar area entirely. Now the common things, such as back, home and seasons can be accessed with edge swipes rather than visible buttons. So, instead of the three icons at the bottom of your screen, you will now see a black strip with a white dash in the center. Now you can go to settings system and gestures to switch this on. These gestures remind us a lot about iOS.

Next, the Dark-themed is one of the biggest visual additions to Android 10. You'll be able to activate the system-wide dark mode from settings display. Dark-themed Android 10 brings a true system-wide dark theme which will darken your phone's entire interface to reduce strain on your eyes and save your battery life. A new quick setting style or by turning on battery saver not only does this change the system UI to dark theme, it will also allow you to change supporting apps to the dark theme. Not all developers have added dark theme to their apps yet, and this includes some first party apps such as Gmail as well. This dark theme is pretty cool and you can check it out and let us know what you think about it.

The Share sheet was one of the biggest pain points with Android earlier, but not anymore. First of all, this new share sheet on Android 10 loads really quickly. It has the most required options and we are able to use it without hassle.

The Focus mode is a new feature of Android 10 that will also be made available to Android 9 users. Now this is a new feature for Androids Digital well-being initiative, and this basically lets you silence certain apps that you find distracting. So you can quickly turn this on and off. Why a quit tiles now, if you want DND (Do Not Disturb) mode only for specific apps then you can quickly enable them via for this mode.

Android 10 also adds some new privacy related controls. Especially for location. Now you have one more granular option to choose from which you can grant location access to an app all the time never or only when you are using the app.

In this new Android version, we have new Digital well-being controls. Parents are not able to approve apps installed. Set screen time limits, create app limits and set a bedtime from within the Digital well-being app.

The Emergency info button is now more easily accessible in the power menu along with a slight overhaul of the information.

If you want to quickly share your WiFi password with a guest at your home or just someone who wants the WiFi password, then you can do it easily in Android 10. You can go to WiFi settings tap on the network you're connected to and you'll find a new share button. Once you have this share button, a QR code will appear, and the other person can use their phone to scan it and they will have the WiFi password.

The next feature is Bubbles. This is like Facebook messenger chat heads feature. Bubbles in Android 10 will show tiny circular floating notification alerts on high of no matter if you are doing on your android device. You're able to approve each app that wants to use bubbles to avoid overcrowding your screen, but bubbles isn't really a user facing feature in Android 10. It's a new notification option that developers can add to their apps. A messaging app, for instance, could serve up a bubble that you can then tap to view a conversation or reply without even launching the entire app.

Smart replies the feature we've seen on the Android messages app before. And now, it's being rolled out to other apps as well. Now this essentially allows you to reply quickly to messages by using one of four suggested options that the system itself suggests. If you're too lazy to type out a reply then you can use the system suggested options or else you can manually reply as well.

So let's just say that you have kept auto-rotate disabled and your device is in portrait mode, and then you switch to landscape on. Now on the bottom left, you'll see an option to enable auto rotate. So this enables it quickly and then you're not escape mode. The device is locked to them. So if you switch back to portrait, you'll see that button again, and you can quickly again switch to portrait mode.

Next, we have live caption hearing impaired. Users will love Android tins new live caption feature. It adds subtitles to any video being watched on the phone. You don't even need to have a data connection to use the feature. It's all done on the phone itself. But, unfortunately live caption is not quite ready yet. Google said it'll be added to Android 10 sometime in the fall of 2019 starting with pixel phone.

Android 10 also has the native ability for the phone app to determine if a call is spam. And to silently block that call without user inputs.

Another minor but helpful feature is a seek bar on the media notifications for quick skipping and moving around.

Android 10 also brings in some more options for volume control. Just press the volume button on your device which is running Android 10. Then tap that Settings icon and then you will see media volume, call volume, ring volume and alarm volume which you can quickly adjust right there without actually going into the Settings app.

Some other things that are included are media codecs timezone data DNS resolver and more.

Android 10 also lets app and game developers take action if your phone gets too hot. This new Thermal API lets apps and games see your CPU temperatures and adjust their performance accordingly. If your phone gets too hot, for instance, a game may turn its graphic settings down. If it notices your phone is too hot, apps can reduce web traffic or your speaker volume to save your battery life and CPU temps as well.

The OS also has a new API that standardizes depth data for photographs. This lets third-party applications have better blur effects and bouquet.

To see if the new OS is ready for your mobile device, go to system settings, then system update. If not then try opting into the Android 10 public beta, it should immediately arrive.

So, that was a quick look at the best new features in Android 10 or called Android Q.
